One of the best things about having my own apartment has been getting to decorate it how I want. I’ve shared snippets of my apartment here and there on Instagram so I’ve decided to do an apartment tour on this blog. For a lot of reasons really, but because I honestly really love where I live and I could have NEVER imagined being here, when I was at my lowest.
That being said, I’m a huge lover of estate sales, Goodwill and Homegoods. There is just something about hunting for the perfect piece and finding it. I love online shopping as much as the next person (it’s convenient!) but when it comes to items for my home, I want to touch them and feel them and be able to visualize them in my space.
Recently, I’ve been working on updating our bedroom & I’m kinda loving how it as been turning out. What do you think of my nightstand area?
The lamp, artwork, picture frame and the vase are all from Homegoods. The nightstand I found at Goodwill ($15!) it was originally black and missing the knobs, but after a coat of paint and some new hardware its easily become one of my favorite pieces. The little vanity chair was also a recent Goodwill find – only $10!
The winking face that I’ve framed here is actually from Kate Spade – they were giving these postcards away for free at their store in Glendale and I love how it looks framed in this mirror frame (a $10 score at HomeGoods!). The little bud vase is also Kate Spade and I found it at HomeGoods. I’m a big believer in having fresh flowers in my home & thanks to Trader Joe’s and their affordable prices, I almost always pick up a bunch or two when I do my weekly grocery shopping. (Occasionally the Boyfrannnnnn brings home a bunch, and that’s nice too!).
I love having carpet in the bedroom, but I don’t like this particular carpet that came with our apartment. I’m thinking about looking for a pretty rug to put in this area. It think it will also give the room a nice pop of color.
The “Stop Wishing Start Doing” artwork that I found at HomeGoods ($24!) caught my eye immediately and I love it. That’s also the perfect motto for my life this year. I feel like I spent all of last year studying for my LCSW exam and this year I can pick up where I just dropped everything. Andrew and I started back at crossfit this week, and OMG I AM SO SORE. But it feels so good to be back. And it also means I’ve been spending a lot more of my down time in bed with ice and IcyHot, so this nightstand update sorta happened at the perfect time.
Up next on the apartment tour – my home office! It’s small, but it packs a big punch. I had the most fun finding and collecting items for my gallery wall & it’s the first thing you notice when you walk in my apartment. Can’t wait to share it all with you!
Psssssst, come join the pinning party over here!
